Video is the way to quickly grow your business. Consider these remarkable stats:
- Marketers who use video grow revenue 49% faster than non-video users.
- Social video generates 1200% more shares than text and images combined.
- Video drives a 157% increase in organic traffic from SERPs.
- Video on a landing page can increase conversions by 80% or more.
There are many forms of video that can be useful for your business - product videos, testimonials, commercials, explainers - but one way to really set yourself apart is to create a team video. This unique brand showcase is a great way to show the world who you are.
Here are five things to think about before you start filming.
1. Involve the team
The goal of this video is to express the personality of the business, so the decisions shouldn’t be left to just the executives or the marketing department.
Gather your team and find out what they are interested in creating. Take the time to listen to everyone’s ideas and come to consensus. Not only will this result in a better video, but it’s a fun team building exercise as well.
2. Think outside the box
Originality is important for your brand in general, but imperative for your team video. You’re creating this to differentiate yourself, so think beyond what everyone else is doing. The world doesn’t need another Harlem Shake video.
This might sound daunting, but you don’t have to start from scratch...
3. Find inspiration
It is important not to copy what everyone else is doing. That said, there’s a world of inspiration out there.
For our latest video, we took inspiration from the opening scene of Reservoir Dogs. There are many similarities, but we also made it our own. We took the basic concept of a crew walking along to music, and gave it our own twist - or squeeze, if you will. We updated the look, the music, and the editing, and added fun, personal elements that show off the personalities of our team.
If you’re stuck for ideas, ask your team about their favorite scenes from movies, music, etc. There are thousands of beginning points out there just waiting for you to make them your own. 4. Decide where it will live
Think about where you plan on sharing this video. This will help you make decisions like:
- What should the look of the video be?
- How long should it be?
- Will there be speaking, music, or both?
If you are planning to share your video on social media, for example, you need to make sure that it stands out in a newsfeed, is short enough to keep someone’s attention, and can get the point across even without sound.
If you are planning to share on your website, you can assume that the viewer is more interested in learning about you than the casual Facebook fan, and that they will have the ability to listen with the sound on.
5. Be you
It’s easy for businesses to seem like faceless entities, so this video is a helpful tool for humanizing you. This is your chance to show the world who you really are and what it’s like to work with you. It’s also a really great opportunity to set yourself apart from the competition.
Are you quirky? Conservative? Trendy? Old school? Show it. Your authenticity will shine through and let customers emotionally connect with your team.
